Park Avenue South, Crouch End
Lee Thompson Chris Foreman and Mike Barson practise playing music for the first time. They have a mutual admiration for Ian Dury/The Sensational Alex Harvey Band/The Coasters/Mott the Hoople/Smokey Robinson and the Miracles/Roxy Music plus Motown and old Ska and Reggae in general.

Songs on the agenda are Fat’s Domino’s I’m Walking and The Temptations Just my Imagination. Mike is quite an accomplished pianist but Chris and Lee struggle to play along with the records.

Some time later they are joined by Carl Smyth as bass player and John Hasler as drummer who have become acquaintances due to frequenting the pubs of Hampstead. They start to have these “sessions” [as they call them] around three times a week.
