Hello. Chrissy Boy here, back where I belong.
Send me a question and I’ll answer it.
Within reason. Nothing about “when's the next gig” please. That’s
in the bit called “gigs” on the main page at the top. If you want
to just say hello to any of us, please feel free to post a comment.
Thanks CB x

XMAS TOUR
Hi Chrissy boy I'm counting down the days to see you in Glasgow (13 days to go). Can't wait to see you guys again i'm like a kid waiting for christmas day(i know i should act my age which is 44).Any way look forward to the show i know you will be on top form as always,& all the best with the tour.I have to say 2009 has been a great year for us MADNESS fans.Looking forward to supporting you in 2010.Thanks for the music over the last 30 years. Cheers Andy PS.All the best with the new single FOREVER YOUNG i,ve ordered the bundle pack.
hi chris met you and suggs 79 southampton gig,got your autograpths.Hows brendan chas brother,he came round ours for dinner bout 1990 here in bournemouth. And we met up few times.denis and family.
Dear Chris, I have to confess that I only bought the Dangermen Sessions after LONF. Back in 2006 I was reluctant in buying it as 'my' Madness should not be making a cover album, they should bring out there own great creations. But after listening to the CD over and over, with the other albums on my iPod, I confess that it's a gem. I think you guys can cover any song out there and give it that Madness touch that we all love. I know you have said that there might not be any more Dangermen CD's. I have two wishes on my Madness CD list (actual three). One is to hear Madness with a Sypmphony Orchestra, two is a second Dangermen Session's CD and three is a new Madness CD. I know I'm asking a lot, but Chris I am wishing Madness and us fans another 30 years of you guys doing that what you do best. Jazz and blues players play well into there 65 years of age, Madness has the same quality and I hope it will happen, thus giving me another 30 years chance of seeing you life...;)
Take care and until next year in Holland or Germany. Andre
Dear Andre That sounds like too much work to me. thanks CB
Chrissy Boy, Cant wait until the gig - seen you in Manchester and Doncaster before, both were absolutely brilliant! Who's the support act for Newcastle? jordan
Only 2 days to go until the bournemouth gig & me & my son cant wait. You're a great bribary tool to get his homework done !!! Is it all TLONF or an all hits set ? steve park
Dear Steve Bit of everything. What do you do, threaten to play our albums unless he does his homework? CB
Hi Chris, You have often been asked questions about The Specials on here, so I thought that I would ask you another one concerning another 2 Tone related band.
What is your favourite Bad Manners single and album, and would you go and see them if the original line-up reformed ? I believe their drummer, Brian Tuitt, did some work on Waiting For The Ghost Train and knows Thommo quite well ? Dell
Dear Dell NeNaNaNuNu and the First album. Brian left them ages ago. yours CB
I\'ve helped out and created set list ! Question: Hi Chris
Have tickets for gig in Bournemouth looking forward to it. To save you time i have come up with set list. let me know your thoughts! in no particular order - Mistakes In the middle of he night The Prince Believe Me My Girl Decieves the eye Embarrasment Not home today On the beat pete Shadow of fear In the rain Cardiac Arrest Sign of the times Mrs Hutchinson Day on the town It must be love Never ask twice House of fun Rise and fall Primrose Hill Tommorows just another day Turning blue Lovestruck That close Dust devil Africa On the town TLONF
How does that sound ? Nice mixture! If theres too many there just ask woddy to play faster, the older ones sound better faster when live.
Cheers
Nick
Dear Nick Amazing! That's more or less it, give or take about 16 songs. How ever did you guess? CB
It's near the end of the year and all the awards for best this and best that are been given, Madness getting over looked or at least been further down the list than you deserve. So I have taken it upon myself to start a new award ceremony as judged by.....well just me really, but I am sure most Madness fans would agree with my choices. The award is called Hats Off To You Award Ceremony or HOT YAC for short. Winners do not receive a trophy but instead a doff of the cap from myself, or anyone else who thinks the same. So here are the winners of the HOT YAC 2009.
Best Band - Madness Best Single - Dust Devil by Madness Best Album - The Liberty of Norton Folgate by Madness Best Video - Sugar and Spice by Madness Best Book - One Step Beyond (33 1/3) by Terry Edwards joint winner with Suggs and the City: My Journeys Through Disappearing London by Suggs Best Sample - Our House is Dadless by Kid British Best Live Performance - Madness at Madstock 5 Best Film - The Liberty of Norton Folgate by Julien Temple Best Male - Suggs (lead singer's always get the awards) Best Female - Lee in a wedding dress, but if you want to be picky Rhoda Dakar Best Repackaging of a Album - One Step Beyond.... Dear Mark I answered this already. You've added another bit haven't you? Thommo will sadly not be singing that song. He wanted more money, so we said no. He is also trying to learn the Soprano sax for the same reason and adding percussion as well. What a chancer. CB --
So excited about seeing you in less than 2 weeks at Birmingham!! Any chance that you'll play Disappear? Also please could you thank Chas for being kind enough to have a photo with me in camden a few weeks ago :) love rach xxx Rach
Dear Rach Disappear probably not - otherwise your wish is my command. Cb
Hi chris my name is Marli - ann Norman and i am 11 years old and i was just wondering if you could say hello to my mum and dad ( Vicky and Ja Norman) on the 5th december your afternoon gig because they are your biggest fans they have your hats and records and dvds good luck with you tour from Marli
Thanks Marli. I would like to say that I want my hats back and all the other stuff then I might say hello. CB
Dear Chris, Whilst taking a shower after watching The Liberty of Norton Folgate, I was reminiscing about this fruitful period of your careers and pondered the thought 'what next for Madness after delivering such a career-defining album'. Rhoda Dakar flashed back into my mind and all those nods back to the early years and i thought i know Madness dedicated a whole album to cover versions through the Dangermen but how much would I like to hear Madness' take on their contemporaries of the time... The Selecter for instance. I would love to hear your interpretations of 'Celebrate the Bullet'. Maybe not as a studio recording but as a show where an album is played start to finish in it's entirity. This is starting to sound a bit like the Dangermen concept but that's not where i'm trying to go with this.
I am sure you guys have all considered what comes next but I would be interested in hearing your views.
Best regards,
Jimi Sweet
Dear Jimi You nutter, you must have banged your head in the shower.Check out our new stuff. CB
Dear CBF I'm sure you've been asked this many times, but seeing that the Specials are kicking around again, what's the potential of a mini 2 Tone Tour ? Or is this mad ? thanks Chris
Dear CBF I'm sure you've been asked this many times, but seeing that the Specials are kicking around again, what's the potential of a mini 2 Tone Tour ? Or is this mad ? thanks Chris

You played a Mdness concert many years ago at the Glen Ballrom , llanelli in south Wales. It must have been late 79/80. It was a mad night If I reme.ber correctly.Could you confirm when it was if you can remember. Many thanks for years of fun and wonderfull memories, and long may you all continue. ian maddocks
Dear Ian It was May 10th 1980. On the timeline look you, where it says about at the top left of this very page.I must call it something else like timeline.. CB
Having been down to Victoria Park in the summer its nice that you are coming up to Leeds to see us . In fact its 24 years since you last played Leeds and back then I was 19 years of age , now 43 but still looking forward to seeing Madness as much today as back then. Is it fair to say that the set list is getting a bit of a shake up for this tour ?
Cheers Johnny Madness is for life not just for xmas!
Dear Johnny I hope it's worth the wait. Where was that last gig in Leeds?I can't be a**ed with the timeline..OK I just looked up something else, it was November 19th 1985 Leeds University. The set list has been given a good clip round the ear. CB
Hi Chris, sorry if this has been asked before but I don't have time to go through the previous posts.... what time is the Brighton gig on the 2nd expected to end? Just so I can plan my journey home! Thanks! Holly
Dear Holly 11pm? Depends where you live though. If you are coming From Scotland I'd leave a bit earlier..You are the only person to ask so far, so no previous, you trailblazer you. CB

Thanks to you guys for the best year of Madness since the days when I was out playing on my Raleigh Grifter and lighting fires in my spare time.
Looking forward to seeing you in a smaller venue than normal at the Newcastle Academy.
Did you know they are doing a Mr Benn film in the next year or two. (The animated city gent, not the esteemed politician). Surely Madness should star in this, write the theme tune and sing the theme tune...
Just off for a bike ride with my swan vestas.
regards, Darren
Dear Darren Careful with matches. You twisted firestarter.. CB
HOWYA CB,Hows things?,i have had a sh*t year basically CB,But can't wait to see you guys on december 28th,i bought tickets for friends that are out off work. SEE YOU ON THE 28TH ANY CHANCE OF LETTING US KNOW WHERE YOUR STAYING WENT YOUR IN DUBLIN FOR A CHANCE OF A FEW PHOTO'S ETC?

GAFFO IN DUBLIN
Dear Gaffo I don'tt know and you shout too much, I need some sleep these days. all the best CB
Was the cover photo for the first Crunch album a play on the Pet shop boys image ?. Whilst I'm on subject did you ever meet Mr Tennant when he was a Jurno, back in the early 80s? as I gather he was quite a big fan of the band, once saying how 'Suburbia ' was partly influenced by 'our House'. He also very much rates 'One better day\'.
No - Run DMC
"King of Rock there ain't none higher/sucka MC's should call me Sire/to burn my kingdom you must use fire/I won't stop rocking till I retire"..Ahhh they don't write 'em like that any more do they? Neil must have interviewed us way back. I really Like the Pet Shop Boys.Very English and very droll. CB
Hi CB Just wondering, as there are plans to re-release the Madness albums and a the demo of TLONF was included with the box set, is there a possibility of releasing old demo material at any time? maybe as part of the re-releases?? Rachel....
Chris I have just listen to your bands cover version of ( You just keep me hanging on ) and I think that song done with your type of music was outstanding, why dont you do a cover album with songs like that it would be great. Ian G
Dear Ian We did one called the Dangermen Sessions. You knew that didn't you?...Timewaster.. CB

Dear Billy I just shouted it out. Did you hear me? Cb
Hi there Chris, just wondering if the situation with MNM has been sorted? It's a shame that Yesterday's Men and Ghost Train couldnt be on the total madness comp, as i think they are amongst Madness best songs! Would be interesting to hear the results if you guys do actually re-record MNM, as there are some great songs on there, it's just a bit overproduced. Good luck with the xmas tour! Madgoth
Dear Madgoth Not to my knowledge, but I think EMI will re release it. CB
i was at your gig 1982 in brighton and met adam faith ,why was he there .been to every gig since .saw the specials 30th at brighton, fantastic, going to gig in brighton with my 11yr old son ,would be great if could get autographs of all the nutty boys .what do you think of hove . ]mark
Dear Mark Adam Faith? Hmm. Hove actually is quite nice, isn't it? A bit Tory and loads of old gadgys but there you go.I'm moving right over to the other side of Brighton soon. CB
hi ya chris can you tell me if hid doing the xmas tour as iv paid the best part of 150 on tickets for southend and the 02 if his not playing im gonna sell them ans i like to see the full line up ,cheers mate regards spencer
Dear Spence I'm sad to say he's not doing it. I thought you knew? Sorry CB
Dear CB I cant believe my luck, but after 18 months of depression, I have now found the original one step beyond album on vinyl, which my dear old mum got me when I was about 8 or 9 back in the early 80's. When I moved house a little while ago, i thought that we packed the few remaining records that I still have all in one box, but after many frantic searches and tantrums, I assumed that it had either been lost or we left it in our old place. Then, to my surprise, I come home last week and my girlfriend says, I have a surprise for you, I thought, gosh, is it my birthday?? lol, it turns out it woz packed wiht some old books and mags and left in the loft. The cover has seen better days but the record is still mint. I think u might agree its still the best debut album by any band ever. As for calming down, well, sort of. I'm a mobile DJ and have banned any robbie williams songs from my set list, he he. PS Great performance on children in need, tho, it looked like suggs and chas had a few refreshments beforehand. PS X 2 - I'm not a grandad, only 37, about half your age, he he. Take care m8, look forward to the xmas tour.
Tote
Dear Tote I will make sure you get loads of requests for "Angels" ho ho. thanks CB
Btw- Thanks for the wonderful gig in Perth April-09.
cheers, Bernie
Dear Bernie I remember you, you used to write in during the twighlight years didn't you? I think that was my contribution. someone suggested the Los Palmas Seven as a title and I said the return of the Los Palmas Seven. thanks CB
My dad asked me what i wanted for Xmas and i asked for tickets to see you. He got some for Wolverhampton. I am 10 in January and it wold be nice if you could do a song for me please. I really like your music and cant wait to see you for the first time, Thank you Chris- Libby P.s my dad knows i have typed this
Dear Libby What a nice Dad you've got, I charge my kids for tickets. Well, they get a small discount.. CB
Do you think if we all wrote to Bedders telling him we loved him, he would join you on the December tour, in fact I will start it off I love Bedders, what say you Chrissy Boy?
When you were on Jools Holland's show earlier in the year i'm pretty sure El Thommo had a soprano sax with him (at least I think he did). I was wondering what tracks would he play it in? Alistair
Dear Alistair So am I. He was probably trying to look the part, as they have some right proper musicians on that Jools Holland carry on later on show, I tell thee. I tell you what. Why don't you go to his treehouse next door and ask him. When you find out [assuming he gives you a straight answer instead of some cryptic gooledegook], let me know.In case thy hadn't noticed my lad, [in these past few years] I play the most honorable and ancient of instruments [the guitar] not some modern new fangled electronic kazoo. CB
Hi Chris Thanks for telling me to speak to Nick when I bought my daughter her Dr Martins last week, I had a chat with him and managed to get a discount thanks to you!! I'm due to see you on 1st December, any chance of buying you a drink to say thanks? If not, hope the tour goes well and I'll see you on the opening night. All the best Nicky xx
Dear Nicky Ah good old Nick, I have sent a few people his way. Have a drink on me, I am cutting down. CB
Hi CB I just wanted to tell you and the rest of the band that i think you are the greatest! Im only 11 years old and i love to play along to your songs on the Bass and drums! I saw you at Norwich in june, it was the best night ever! Im also going to Newcastle in December. And I have question, Does the band have any plans for another album? David Barrow.
Dear David How do you play two things at once? Do you mean Drum N Bass like what my showbiz mate Goldie does? Great though, keep it up, top man. CB
Watched your set on Friday's BBC Children in need show, am I correct in assuming Suggs had maybe enjoyed the BBC's hospitality a bit too much, also where was Bedders ?
Coming to the Swindon Oasis gig, last time I went there it was for swimming, have they drained the pool for you lot to play in ....? Dannyboy
Dear Dannyboy Bedders is taking some time out of the band. No - they have made it into and ice rink,we are doing "Holiday on Ice Come Dancing Celebrity Y Factor" CB
Hi Me and my sister are coming to see you in Manchester - cannot wait! Just wondered if Bedders is touring with you? He was my sisters heartthrob all those years ago.... Thanks Alison
Dear Alison I'm sorry to say that Bedders won't be there. CB
Just to say can't wait to see you all at the o2 on the 18th dec.saw you's there two years ago and was loving it. this time will standing right near the stage. And to say big happy xmas to you all.sorry just had to say it haha. shelly
Revival Question: Chris do you think Madness will ever share the stage again with The Specials ? Where the 2 bands friendly or were they rivals ? Will Bedders be back with the band ? Cheers Tony
Dear Tony Wow! That's too much input. Hold on.....Specials I'd like to, but it won't happen while Jerry's not in the band - apparently. Rivals? well I was a bit miffed whent Too Much Too Young beat us in the charts but what the heck, we loved them. Bedders will return I hope. CB
dear chris you looked very smart in your 2tone suit on children in need. How is chas after falling on his bum tell him if he needs any tlc i'd gladly kiss him better xx love di x
I saw you guys in Children In Need last night and I would like to ask:
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!? =D
lol. Keep on being nutty! (Whilst staying sober.) Trilby (PS How's Chas's hip after that?) Trilby
Dear Trilby We were there from 1pm onwards. Photo session is a pub for the big issue at 3pm what do you expect? Not a lot to do really. Chas is fully recovered.. CB
...with my little eye, Martin Freeman in the The Liberty of Norton Folgate audience? End of Act 1. Next to some bloke I also recognise off the telly, though his name could be anything.
I've just put the DVD on (only for the third time) after Children in Need because I can't go to bed with Peter Andre in my brain.
My arm's in the audience too. I know it's my arm because I recognise the cute little boy in trilby, suit and sunglasses who was sitting next to me.
Amanda xx
Dear Amanda Yes I think he was there. Who was next to you - me? CB
Do send my regards to Bedders, and hope hes back soon.
Hows things with you ?? - I really fancy one of the suits your modelled so well on Wogans show tonight, so can you tell where you got it ?
And can you help with one of my biggest dissapointments of my 43 yrs so far ??... - in that I had just moved to/started a new job in Cornwall, when you last appeared at Rock City, Notts(which is the best venue ever for me !) - and I couldnt get back for it !! - so, do you think you will ever play there again ? and could you put it forward at your next team meeting ??
Im off to Rock city tomorrow, to see The Specials, so getting a good dose of 2Tone in Nov/Dec !!!
See you in Dec, Cheers mate,2Tone
Dear 2Tone Mine was from Ace Face clothing, tell Stuart I sent you. I'm on commission, I want a double breasted one and if I can send 50 mugs,...sorry.. customers his way I will get a good price.. CB
Dear CB We came to see you on the Isle of Wight in the Summer and Bedders was conspicuous by his absence. I've just watched you on Children in Need and he's not there again. Is he OK? Where is he? Anna
Dear Anna Running a multi million pound industry. CB

Dear Sam He left for health reasons. He was getting sick of it. It can happen you know. CB
Ahoy-hoy Commander! I hope you're well, and rehearsing hard for Christmas. Thought I'd take a break from applying for uni and drop in and say hi! Did you know that the o2 Academy Oxford is free on the night of Thursday 3rd December??? Still time to add one more tour date you know!!! If not, I'm coming to Swindon, with inflatable sax in tow, so that should be good fun. Is there a hope in hell of a backstage pass, considering you love me so much (cough, cough)??? :) Anyway, just wanted to say, good luck for the tour, and see you at the Oasis!!!!!!! Rear guards Owen The Nutter ps how about Billy Bragg as tour support?
Dear Owen I will look out for that sax...Billy Bragg? CB
Hi Chris Going to the Newcastle gig and i was hoping would it be at all possible to get some autographs on the club M poster (The Liberty Of Norton Folgate) so i could get it framed and hung on my wall mate.I know your busy so if possible could i post it back to yourselves to get it signed. If its not possibleto do it at Newcastle. yours Paul L
Dear Paul Tou can but try. Or send it to our management address. CB
I had a really pants day a few days ago, teaching year sevens and trying to stop them juggling acid in their science lesson was really stressed when I got home and saw that you has replied to mine and my daughters comment. Thankyou ever so much for cheering me up and I can't wait to see you again in Southend!!!!!!!! :):) Allison Gomes
Dear Allison Juggling acid? Our teacher to drop phosphorus in the sink, while we played with mercury. Ah great days, health and safety didn't exist then... CB
Hi Chrissy Boy, Is there anywhere I can get a Madstock 2009 Promo Poster? The perfect Christmas present for my wife to remind her of our fantastic day at Victoria Park. Looking forward to Plymouth in Dec. Thanks, Dean
I know this comes a bit late but Kudos to you and the band for the album that is the Liberty of Norton Folgate. The album is top notch and the movie was enjoyable to watch. Hope to see another concept album in the near future. TheAzMaddie
Dear Azmaddie Thanks for the kudos, it means more than an award. CB
Mr. Foreman - The boxed set & the silver edition of the album arrived in Brisbane yesterday. No sleep was the result; everything has been played & viewed nonstop ever since. Flawless songs indeed; the best collection since 'The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society' (perhaps you were responsible for this one as well, despite your youthful age). 'One Fine Day' = an immediate favourite along with the Peter Gunn type rhythm of 'Let's Go'...ah, too many too mention highlights to mention. Either way, you must be very chuffed with these songs. Hope that you have the correct G. Bush for the bassplaying duties next month; I understand that a certain G. Bush who hails from the happy state of Texas could well be looking for a job. Here's to a happy tour with best wishes to Bedders thrown in for a good measure - Alphonso.
Hello Chris glad u coming to sheffield, went to see u at doncaster races last year truly fantastic!great new album played it so much that my boys love it.my eldest is 12 and Oliver will be 9 on the 9th december when u play sheffield.we av 4 tickets for the show and it will b the boys first gig.my wife is in hospital at moment and we hoping she be well enough to c the gig.wud it b possible for u to dedicate a song on the night to Oliver for his birthday, his favourite songs are NW5,Norton Folgate and House of Fun many thanks shaun
Dear Shaun They don't give me the mike for long enough and I always forget to do requests. CB
Hello Mr CB!! I have recently bought the re issue of OSB... which is... Awesome. In the booklet is stated that The Madness is going to be reissued... Is it going to be a 2 disc release? Are al reissues going to be a 2 disc set? So many questions... So little time. Such impatient I am!
All the nutty best!
Mr. PaulB
Dear Paul I doubt it, I don't think we've got two discs worth of stuff. CB
Hi Chris, Carlsberg dont do bands, but.... Thanks for the music. What time you knocking off on the 18th December?, got to get back to Coventry, work near Jerry Dammers old flat as it happens in Albany Rd. Karl
Dear Karl That's very nice for you. We should be all over by 11. CB
Hi – we had a great time with madness back in June 2000 at the Academy to say goodbye to Ian Dury. It is all a bit of a blur now, can’t think why – bet you don’t have a play list and cast for the night to remind me how much I enjoyed myself? mike
Hey i have always fancied Bedders easily the best looking n most stylish 1 from Madness with my luck is he single and is he straight emma xxx ps hurry up back in the fold mark
Hi Chris, I will be spending Christmas and new year in Australia this year and i'm totally heart broken that Madness are playing Belfast and Dublin while I'm away!! Please give me assurance that yous will be back some time again... Such is my love for the band that i'd rather stay in cold Ireland this winter to see those gigs.
Hope you'll reply and best of luck for the tour, i know it'll be amazing.
Peace, and love.
Patrick.
Dear Patrick We went to Australia this year your timing is a well off. Ah well, never mind next time. Still - you'll have good weather... CB
Why oh why did you not release 'Coldest Day' back in 1985? what ever were the band thinking of to put out "Sweetest Girl?' Can you also tell me if you ever played this song live on the MNM tour,as a friend tells me you played it at Leicester DeMont on that tour? how did you get on with the Lyn drum? alex
Dear Alex We may have done, I can't remember. The Linn drum was quite a character. He left and started another band. thanks CB
Got a reply back from Thommo via the Treehouse after the brief chat @ Regent.St with both of you, he had my details as well from then & has put it down for the g.list @ Swindon. I know said to go via the forum so just checking. H'fully get the chance to say Hi on the 7th.
Will the tour be recorded for dvd or on cd or dvd? Seeing as the brilliant o2 gig in 08 wasnt recorded.
Shame bedders is having time out. still like you, and mike did when you both had breaks and came back stronger bedders will too.
This has been a fab year all round for both the band and us fans a big thank you to you all. In fact a big thank you to those behind the scenes too from your managers to your booking agent to Ian "Dad" Horne the sound man and to Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley for making everything possible. May there be a new album too in the pipeline. Well I can live in hope. tony stratton
Dear Tony There will be usbs of most of the gigs CB
Dear CB, My folks have raised me for all of 15 years on the nutty boys and finally i get to see this years manchester gig (the last being when i was 6ish!) Sadly, through my childhood years my mum was recording endless dancing in flowery doc martins whilst screaming from the top of my lungs "IT MUST BE YUVE!" (i couldn't pronounce L's) coming from our lounge. She is desperate to send it to you all one day no matter how embarrassing it is-just warning you! very excited for the gig, you guys are heroes! Rebecca x
I just discovered Madness, and found out that you played here in Norway in August. Is there any chance you'll come back here within the next 63 years or so?
Magnus
And the random question: Does XTC or The Dukes of Stratosphear mean anything to you?
Dear Magnus XTC and the Dukes are the same band wasn't the Dukes a spoof spin off that [ironically] actually sold more records than XTC? We always really liked XTC, "Making Plans For Nigel" was a Madness favourite. CB
My 13 yr old son has bought me his godmum and his dad tickets to come and see you at the cliffs. We were all big fans of you in the eighties and still are. Could you please say a big thank you to Charlie at the matinee performance from us all, it will make his day. Thank you Jane
Dear Jane I will forget, there's always too much on my mind when I'm onstage. What a great boy though. CB
Hi Chris Can't wait to see you all in Glasgow this will be my first Madness Concert with my mum who is a huge fan ha, she has been to many of your concerts. Are you making a calender as i want to get one for my mums christmas. love toni x
Dear Toni Sorry no calendar get her an album or something. CB
Chris, You wrote here a short while ago that you guys are completely funding your record releases through touring. Well I have to say that I am mega impressed. I didn't realise. You could just do the tour dates and pocket the cash but to plough it back into fab releases for us fans to buy is incredible. Thanks Chris. After all the brilliant memories Madness have given me I certainly don't object to putting a few quid in your back bin!
And mega thanks for deciding to release Forever Young. I thought there may be a danger that it would become the Bed & Breakfast Man of TLONF....ie the single that never was. I had made a little video medley to this track and you might consider showing here as a taster for the fans in anticipation of the release.
Cheers Chris, see you at the O2
Mad Mick
Dear Mick That is very good work my man.We have sold quite a few albums now so things are looking up. CB
hi chris at the moment im building a custom lambretta based on your good self and your other nutty band members, scoot named dust devil, would it be poss to have a part of it signed by the band as a very nice finishing touch, cheers the now mark.cant wait to see yous all again in glasgow mark
A big day for me- my 8 year old son is coming to his first ever gig- the matinee at Newcastle. Really looking forward to it and his 5 year old brother is jealous as he can't come. I listened to your stuff as a teenager. I've rediscovered it- it really is good and Norton Folgate- wow- so good...
Don't suppose you can- do you do shout outs during gigs? My son Matthew and his mate Fraser (both 8/9) will both be there and are so excited.
Dear Graham I always forget to do those shouts and I have a few of my own to do. I hope you have a good time despite that.. CB
Just wondered if all the old 12" extended versions (Cardiac Arrest, Our House, Wings Of a Dove, The Sun & The Rain, Etc.) will feature on the forthcoming album reissues?
I am a nutty girl because I am a fan of Madness. I especially love the songs you play. I wish I could go to one of your concerts but I'm too young.
Love Honor (6) xxx
(The one that wrote out the Baggy Trousers lyrics at Madness Central!!)
p.s. Daddy says he'll take me if we find a gig where there won't be too much pushing and shoving. He knows about the matinee gigs but they don't work out. Maybe next year :)

Dear Chrissy, When you have finnished moving into your new pad (!) can you tell me - at either end of the "Take it or leave it" film, where were you going (at the airport) and what concert were you about to do (at the end) ?. Thanks, Sharon x Ps Have you checked out Mad Mick's video yet for "Forever Young" ??
Dear Sharon We off on the Madness Far East Tour of Japan America and Australia. Now what a laugh that was..There was no real gig - it was all pretend.Mad Micks video is very good,
I was planning on doing the same thing and there was a similar one at the Hackney Shows. CB

Dear Dave Ah, that warms the cockles of my my cold money grabbin' heart. Thanks for a nice letter, makes it all worthwhile. CB
Hi chrissy boy, I got married in 2006 in Scotland and after the usual best man speeches I played my new husband "it must be love" instead of making a speech myself as the words are fab !..it went down a storm !..we are returning to Scotland for the first itme since then for your gig on new years eve in Edinburgh driving all the way from Cardiff and I wonder if you could remember to dedicate this song (if it is played ) to my husband for me....I follow you all over the country and this would make my day !....your like a fine wine which gets better & better with maturity !!!!! love you lots !! Helen
Dear Helen How nice of you. What's his name? I always forget though. CB
Hiya seen a recent interview on Live From Studio 5 with Suggs and Carl. When asked what the future holds 4 Madness Chas replied after the tour the band are going in the studio 2 see if the tunes are there.Understand it was your original idea for Madness 2 release an album in 2010 Will it happen then CB? martin
Dear Martin One way or the other I hope so. No pressure though. CB
Hiya Chris, just wondered if i had something i wanted to pass onto the band at a concert who do i give it to,to make sure you get it. See you in Birmingham on the 10th. Big kiss Jane.x
Dear Jane There is usually a man outside each venue with some sort of alcoholic beverage in a brown paper bag. Give it to him. Or you could post it to our management. The address on the main page under 'contact' just above the red bus. He is usually there most days as well. big hug CB x
i see someone was asking about harringtons i have just bought one on ebay its brand new and is wicked king george two tone check perfect for the 30th celebrations jimbob
Dear Jimbob Fantastic news I am over the moon, I will be looking out for you, you are the top man. CB
Hi CB 2 underated songs that were on the Johnny the Horse CD Dreaming man and I was the one. 2 questions ! 1 who sings lead on dreaming man and who wrote those songs (I no longer have the case !) Cheers Nick Giles
Dear Nick Dreaming Man was written by Chas and myself, Chas sung it [I think]. I was the One was a Barso song erm..maybe he sings it, probably Suggs on reflection.. CB
i'd love to say thanks to you. maybe it sounds weird, but your music changed my life. i heard "the wizard" for the first time and it wouldn't leave my head. after this moment i researched sooo much songs from you and suddenly i felt understood. it made me happier and think different so i had a new start at school...gave my boyfriend a chance to love me and i'm totally happy now. i enjoy all of your tracks and i'd love to see you live but i'm german and i can't come to the UK for a concert. D:
i bought 3 albums in my whole life on my own and "tlonf" is one of them. it may be unimportant to you but it means a lot to me.
thank all of you for giving my a new attitude towards life
all my love and grateful greetings from little weirdo-girl from germany
leo
Dear Leo Well what a pleasure it is to be able to do something like this. I am glad we halped you.We will come to Germany I hope next year We did some German festivals this year which were very good fun. CB
hi cb,i spoke to woody this year after the paul o'grady show and spoke to him about the marathon that he ran, i told him that i lost my dad in march and would love to run the marathon for my dad next year but had no hope in succeeding as the chances of being accepted to run is slim, he told me to enter anyway and said good luck, well...this week i got my acceptance certificate so ill be running in the 2010 marathon,if it wasn't for woody i wouldn't of done it, so can you thank him for me !! , i just wish my dad was there to see me run, all the best Stuart
Dear Stuart I'm sure your Dad would be proud of you.Tell me your details and I'll put them on here so people can sponsor you. I will. CB
Dearest CB I thought I was happy with the 10 shows I'm going to during December (Southend x 2, Swindon, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham, Newcastle x 2, Manchester & London). However, that was before the announcement of Wolverhampton. I love the Civic Hall to bits and have always imagined what it would be like to see you guys there and now my dream is coming true. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say a massive thank you to you all for playing in Wolvo. Vickiwithani
Dear Vickiwithani Well if you're coming to ten shows, one in your hometown is the least we can do.I shall wear my lucky socks in your honour. thanks CB
Hi Chrissy Boy, I read somewhere how some of you guys prefer arenas like Londons O2 or outside events like Madstock whereas some of you prefer smaller venues. I have to say coming to see you at Wolves Civic is going to be amazing. I came to see you at Tripod in Dublin last year, now that was an intimate place. Just wondered what size venues you prefer. Macca
Dear Macca I have become somewhat accustomed to the enormo dome type venues after an initial loathing, once I found out how much money you can get. So it was kicking and screaming for me to play these somewhat smaller gaffs. Ah well, I will force myself to enjoy it. I think I will - don't you? CB
Hi Chris,i asked a couple of months ago if we could see you at t in the park next year and you said you needed to be asked.Well low and behold have just been sent a link asking what bands we want to see there next year.SO COME ON EVERYONE GET VOTING and Chris, dont book any holidays for July! steve
Hello, I was just wondering (as I sit here supping my PG Tea listening to some ACDC) will 'The Madness' be amongst the reissues? Because I love the vocal version of 'Patience' If not it'll be a shame to equal the 'Mad Not Mad' one. Also can't you buy the rights and maybe we'll all chip in like a church roof fund or something? Mike
Dear Mike If life were only so easy..I'm sure EMI will release it. CB
Just wanted to say hello to you all. I've loved your music for many years, it always puts a smile on my face.
I'm currently in Antarctica at Mawson Station and have been here a year. Your music was great through what seemed the longest winter of my life.
Just waned to say thanks and keep up the great work!
Cheers
Matt
Dear Matt Cool. No it really is, what an unusual place to hear from. I'm glad we helped you through it all.Have you seen "The Thing". That sort of makes me think of where you are.Check it out a John Carpenter film, it's really good. CB PS I just looked up a webcam picture and you may be in trouble...
i was at the splendour gig in nottingham kid british should have been the band before MADNESS came on the pogues were s##t . this was the first time i have seen you live hope to see you back in nottingham at the trent fm arena would be great . allthe best to all the lads darrell
Tally-ho Mister Chris. Could you please tell me the real life actual chords to that there "Dust Devil" song? I'm sure you know the one I mean. I've tried playing it C7th/ F7th/B flat/ and G major for the verse but it sounds a bit wrong quite frankly. Mind you, I am rubbish. Cheers. Monsieur Brasso
Dear Monsieur Brasso So am I. Leave out the 7ths and you should be OK. CB
to chris i was watching the video for ghost train and was wonderng if you couild tell me if it was a 3d experiment video as it has all the hallmarks of a 3 d video don
Dear CB, With all the album re-releases going on in 2010, is there any chance that Take It Or Leave It might be re-released on DVD? My VHS copy has seen better days! Cheers, Mark
(but not flogging a dead horse.) and Sweetest Girl Question: I also prefer the more recent mix of Mrs Hutchinson - but it's the completist in me that likes to have this stuff. Hey if you guys release both the mixes of the different tracks the cash goes into your coffers rather than those of ebay, paypal and even the sellers when the original pressings get sold.
Just a thought, not meant as a nag. I like the fact you seem to be so involved with the releases.
I found myself listening to Sweetest Girl the other day and noticed it's subject to some stutter type cuts on there - was the track lengthened for the album or shortened for the single - or both?
Dear Mike I hope this is the last time I have to address this subject. We were sent some extra track ideas for the Seven album. One was to replace the CD version of "Mrs Hutchinson" with the "original album mix". Ok so I checked it out and it was terrible it had these really loud steel drums on it. Of course it's not my song so I asked Mike Barson and he wanted it taken off. Which was why it was changed in the first place when we did the CD version, because it was not good enough. So all you completist types will have to lump it, you've probably got every mix anyway. The reason the album mixes and whatever get changed is not a record company whim it is because the band want it done. There were also two mixes of "Day on the Town" the only difference was the dub section, one had some great muted trumpet on it [by Chas I think] so I put that one on because Suggs and I preferred it. "Sweetest Girl" was probably edited for radio but the "Mad not Mad" album is sore point as we don't own it. yours CB
Just to let you know that in this bery year that Madness celebrate 30 Years in the bizniz, the French Asterix cartoon is celebrating its 50th Anniversary also!!! Well as a huge fan of both, I got such a buzz on receiving the book, "Asterix & Obelix's Birthday - The Golden Book" today to find a really cool reference to Madness-One Step Beyond!!!!
I've posted the pic on the site below if you fancy havin' a peep.

Sean Gaskin
Dear Sean Thanks that's really great I like Asterix CB
Yay! You're coming back to our lovely country again (: Any idea on what type of concert it's gonna be? I already got my tickets, but I'm going with my dad, and if it's mostly "new" songs, I probably have to get him the Liberty of Norton Folgate ;D Thanks (: xx Anne-Karlijn
Dear Anne Some new stuff I hope. Get him it anyway for Christmas. CB
Just wondering: who is saying "This train is for all stations to High Barnet. Thank you." in the LONF-song "Bingo"? Stupid question, but me and my brother were just very curious. Great CD :)
Really looking forward to the gig in Amsterdam! I hope we can make it to the front row :) Will you wave? We are probably the youngest people in the crowd.
Jiska
Dear Jiska Thommo of course.Enjoy yourselves in Amsterdam you young people. thanks CB
Hi CG! Great to see Madness back their best this year - both at Madstock and TLONF! Fantastic return!
Just wanted to say "well done" for setting up the matinee gigs too. The first time I saw you guys was t Southampton Gaumont in the 1981 (!), the matinee performance that was U16's and £1 to get in! Brilliant! It got me hooked and now a new generation can enjoy the shows too!
In fact, I brought along my original Madness scarf from that gig when I came up for Madstock! I hope it makes it onto the DVD.... when is the Madstock 2009 DVD coming out!!
Cheers! See you all at the O2 on Dec 18th! Can't wait! :-) Stephen (Southampton)
i wrote to you before but is there any news on who is backin ye up in dublin,i cant wait to see you guys again,i have to say the new album is really good, well done to ye all there cheers phil.
Dear Phil I still don't know............ thanks CB
Are you into rap and hip hop at all? If so did you come across the early stuff when you first toured the states in the early 80's?
Cheers Herbert
Dear Herbert We were well aware of it, We used to get DJ's to play "King of Rock" by Run DMC when we went out clubbing and we would go nuts. I remember some club had a bouncy castle and we were all on it. Well not all 7 of us. Thommo, Suggs, Chas and yours true. I've always been a fan. I saw Run DMC, Schooly D, The Beastie Boys, LL Kool J and Public Enemy but all in the UK. CB
My name is Hattie and I am 5 and I am watching your videos with my dad. I love your videos - my fsvourite is Night Boat to Cairo. I like the way you all walk in a line. I also like Baggy Trousers, especially the bit where Lee flies. My dad says that when I'm old enough, he'll take to me see you all play in a concert. We live in Camden and I recognise some of the places in your videos. Why are you called Madness and not Craziness? Love from Hattie x
Dear Hattie We are named after one of our songs which is called Madness. That's why CB
i would like to ask whether you are going to accept mean poppa lean as a support act for your band? there are a very impressive act with amazing outfits and stage presence... and they are amazing musicians on top of that. i hope you do!! maybe ill come and watch! thank you for your time. luch love Elma houghton xxx elma
would u send me music for my girl my 9 year old son wants to learn it for piano lessons thanks lv madness mark
Dear Mark It's hard to on the internet - how will it get through the letterbox? Try a Madness songbook. http://www.musicroom.com/se/ID_No/030264/details.html Send him all my very best. CB
I've had a quick squiz through the people living in your cupboard and can't find mention of the gig you did at the Lyceum Ballroom ... I thought it was 1982 as my little brother who was 16 at the time had bought me the ticket for my birthday. A young friend of his tagged along and when we got to the door he was told that he was too young to come in. When we eventually got in the "kids" that weren't old enough were all sitting in the theatre style "boxes" above the main room! The Belle Stars were the supporting act - one of which I thought you'd married just before?? I'm so out of touch with you lot but still listen to the old stuff. You're all brilliant! xx Janis xx
Dear Janis March 1st 1983? It's on the bit at the top of the site that says "about" which is a timeline. I never married Jenny, I did ask her though.Twice. CB
everyday its getting closer 02 concert just around the corner madness coming our way hey hey

Hi Chris, Next year on the 15th of May, I'm gonna see you guys for the first time ever, so please feel free to play all your greatest hits too. Love the old and the new ones, the nuttiest sound around. Erik
Dear Erik We will play a mixture, hope you will enjoy it. Thanks CB
Hello Chris, Is "Coldest Day" about Marvin Gaye? His death seems to have generated several songs (like the Stranglers'"Laughing"). I sometimes wonder: British pop artists (like you, it seems) seem to have been enormously influenced by soul music, but have produced something which I find entirely different. Any listnening advice in soul music? Jean
Dear Jean Isaac Hayes Hot Buttered Soul and [funny enough] the soundtrack to Superfly by Curtis Mayfield are pretty good. CB
hello chris, any chance of 2 tickets or passes for brighton on the 2nd its my wifes birthday and ive done all my dosh on the horses she aint happy heres hoping jamie
Dear jamie Sorry I can't do that I have builders galore and painters plus the architects and maybe even a few mates. Try the Lotto. CB
Do you remember about 10 years ago you were supposed to do a track for the Noel Coward Tribute Album? What happened in the end that you didn't record it? I remember Neil Tenant saying you guys came into the studio argued and left! What's your recollection?
I think it may have been Mad Dogs and Englishmen which I think Black Grape did in the end.
What do you think of PSB version of My Girl that they are using as a b-side for Christmas. Bit wooden and predictable methinks.
Vince
Dear Vince We never went into any studio so that's a load of cobblers. Suggs didn't want to do it as I recall. Maybe he went in on his own but it was supposed to be a Madness version so I think we would have been there. I was quite keen. I haven't heard the Pet Shop Boys version of My Girl but I like them. Have you heard some of our cover versions? CB
Hi Chris,im full of anxiety, fear and excitment as ive decided to move to brighton/hove area all the way from co.durham.I have an interview working for brightons childrens services on 20th nov..ive been looking for places to rent but some of the places are either too expensive or rough looking..Can u help me out and find me a place for a while?I Can afford upto 500 a month...im a honest, caring nice person just wanting to make a fresh start from the northeast..Thanks Helen xx
Dear Helen I have only just got round to answering this. I hope it went well. It's nice down here and the weather will be far better so I wish you all the best. CB
34 Days! 34 Days! Can't wait! :D And a quick Question, do you know any internet sites that do correct Guitar Tabs with Madness songs on? Thanks, Leah xx
Dear Leah Well I'm weeks behind answering all this so it's probably 10 days or something. Guitar tabs I don't know, Google it. CB
Heya Chris Ok Ok So I Know I'm Getting Irratating But I Was Wondering What The Age Limit At The Gig on Dec 28th In Dublins 02 Is....It's Me 1st Gig So I Don't Really Wanna Get Thrown Out For Been Under Age..Me (15) And A Friend(13) Are Goin Think We Will Be Ok Gettin In To The Arena ?????? Shannan xxxxxxx
Dear Shannan I really don't know it depends on the venue. It should be OK, if not - get some fake ID. CB
Hello, I wouldn't like to talk about 'gigs' but I have to, we're waiting for a concert here in Oporto ehehe...come to taste our good wine and many many more. Feel like the invaders ehe
Hello Chris ! I'm a member of a band (Indeed) who is on the 30th anniversary Tribute ! I'd like to thank all the Madness ship to let the Tribute being on the Madshop ! It's an honour and a privilege to be here !
Regards Judge Fredd
Thank Judge. You did a version of The Sun and The Rain - correct? I can tell you personally that all the members of Madness really liked your version. CB
Just like to say I love every think you guys have done over the years, you are without doubt my favorite band of all time, and as a musician I have found great inspiration from your music! I love the liberty of Norton folgate it is a master piece! Am I right in thinking that some sounds are taken from the Take or Leave it film in the track Bingo?
Dave allen
Dear Dave Correctomondo - the scene after the fight. My idea - it also features on the track "Fight Amongst Yourselves" by Crunch! CB
All the boys from Scotland have the tickets for Glasgow and now hogmany in Edinburgh. But remeber to wear your thermals as it is always minus 5 on this day.
Q) We all want to buy the red hats you wore in the 80's. Any idea where we can buy em ? colb
Dear Colb Cold in Scotland! Ha ha! I thought it was cold in Newcastle till we were in Glasgow a few years ago walking up the road to see the Pogues. A new sort of cold..Do you mean Fez's? Google "Buy Fez Hats" CB
i want the best 40th birthday ever, please come and play at margate for me, trying to get bad manners too- lets just have a bigggggg partyyyyy. what else are you doing in february???? claire
Dear Claire Sorting out my new house - as I will have [hopefully] moved in by then. CB
sorry, its me again. I see plenty of talk on this forum regarding playing more album tracks rather than just a greatest hits set, i think this would be a great idea and a real treat for us fans, as barring a few new fab additions from T.L.O.N.F and some average covers, but lets face it, the set has been practically the same since the early madstocks. Personally I would drop the following; GREY DAY, DRIVING IN MY CAR, SHUT UP, HOUSE OF FUN AND no covers. Bring in; IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, THE COMMUNICATOR, SWAN LAKE, TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT (permanentely), MRS HUTCHINSON, ONE BETTER DAY.
Thanks.
Tote
Dear Tote Calmed down yet? How about a few Robbie Williams numbers? We ain't done Driving in my Car for ages, get with it, Grandad. But yes a few new ones would be nice. We are working on it. CB
Hi Chris. I recently bought Michael Buble's new album (for the bar where I work, we get an older clientel!)and have found that I actually quite like it. Will I still be able to gain admittance to the Apollo in December to see you lot or should I 'hang my boots up' now in shame?
Spoffy
Dear Spoffy Well he does swing, [daddio] I suppose. Just don't ask me to sign it. Cb
Do you no any where I can find the lyrics for your version of "It must be love" originally written by Labi Siffre? I've been in an argument with my friend about lines with words that sound like other words. Yours Sincerely Liam
SWEET CHILD OF MINE! GOOGLE SEARCH "LYRICS + IT MUST BE LOVE" CB Say hello to Noel for me.
apologies in advance for this rant, but we are all shocked and gobsmacked due to that little jumped up overated has been who's now receiving the lifetime achievment award instead of u guys, for what??? one good song which was angels 12 years ago, and the rest, well, in one word, crap..And Madness, who have a back catalouge that most bands would kill for, as well as propably the best studio album of the year, who keep inspiring fresh generations and winning many new fans worldwide, and of course, still one of the very best live acts there is around today. Me and my mates cannot get over this, it's a travesty, and we will make our selves heard, believe me. Just goes to show what a pile of poo the music biz is here in the UK. Anywhere else and you guys would of propably been royalty by now, i guess though, its what us fans think that really matters, and this year u guys have totally rocked. anyway, thats it, i feel better now..stay cool
Will there be another single release from TLONF ? Thought both previous singles were decent choices, with good videos and deserved Top 40 recognition. Think "Forever Young" is the classiest tune on the album and would be a good choice, if supported by a good video, some airplay, maybe a Jonathan Ross tv appearance and a brand new supporting track. How about it ? trind
maybe its a silly questen i like the shoes the are wharing by suggs i live in holland en i never found them here i want to buy them and also a ska head and sunnglasses in holland is nothing i hope that you can read my englisch and give me a nice message back thank you very mutch i love you all sinds 1979 you are the best madness for ever erik smit
Dear Erik The shoes are two tone brogues. If you search for that you can find a lot of similar shoes. The hats try pork pie hats and the sunglasses are by Persol. CB
Hi CB, looking forward to seeing you guys in Southend on 5th of December, last time i saw you was finsbury Park for the first Madstock, Where's the Brit Award thats what i want to know !
Si
Dear Si I don't know - where are they? I think the Grovensnor Hotel or somewhere like that. I shall be boycotting the event as always.. CB
Saw them in Blackpool last night, Chris. Absolutely awesome! The thing is, love 'em as I do, I don't know if they could now do a Folgate standard album of all new stuff. If they could it would be great and i don't doubt their talent...it just kind of sums up what an amazing achievement Folgate actually is. All the best, E
Dear E Well - it took us a long time. We reformed in 1992 and we didn't record Wonderful till 1998.Yes we released it in 1999 nerds, before you all write in - but we recorded it well before that and in fact I have some of the demos. CB
My five minutes of fame being having my photo on the inside cover of One Step beyond. I often wonder A how you chose the mugshots and B if they are all still as big a fan of the band as myself. Would make a good TV doc Lol Fred
Dear Fred Stiff picked most of them and the band selected a few. CB
HI THERE CHRISSY BOY ABOUT THESE BACKSTAGE PASS YOU SAID WHEN I MEET YOU A THE BACK OF HMV THAT IF I EMAILED YOU CLOSER TO THE TIME YOU WOULD TRY TO SORT ONE OUT FOR ME ???
IS THAT STILL POSSIBLE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ????
hello crissy boy ,with the specials back and bad manners keeping the faith. why not do a one of two tone gig all together like the great days of dance craze martin
Dear Martin Because that was 30 years ago. I saw the Specials in Brighton the other day as it happens, very good. CB
Chris, does it bother you and the rest of the band that radio 1 don't give the new songs the airplay that they deserve considering that there is nothing out there at the moment worse listenin too.
Regards

To Mr. Foreman I am manager of Darlington Football CLub, who are currently languishing at the very foot of the Football League, and facing administration. So I wish to make a proposal to you; I have noticed during your concerts which I have attended that you have a pair of hands. Many of our players also have hands. Therefore, I was wondering whether you would mind writing Darlington FC on one of your hands in biro before one of the concerts on your upcoming Christmas Tour, so as to raise awareness of our club's plight. Yours sincerely Steve Staunton Head Coach, Darlington Football Club
Come on Steve - the season's not over! CB PS What you have said doesn't make sense.
Will their be a Gold Edition of your a brilliant TLONF? , as the silver edition is out soon and if so will it include all 22 tracks from the box set? also will you be promoting it with a single , as their are so many good tracks to choose from....Idiot child being one of them which has hit written all over it, and would great over the radio.
All the best
Dave
Dear Dave Platinum next, I got the gold one last weekend.I would like to release a version with all the songs on at some point though, if I can get permission.. CB
I Love the new album. (I'm from Oregon in the states)Have you heard and what do you think of Inspector's (from Mexico) version of Our House? (en espaniol) peter
I was in Brighton at the weekend. Had a fab time as always, but I left my Walkman (MP3) at Norfolk Square. I can't commute without music but my old Walkman (CD) is making me walk lopsided.
So, will you be coming up to London before your Brighton gig? If yes, any chance you could drop it off at Piccadilly Circus? Pretty please? I can't trust those posties!
I met a fellow fan while I was down there. He spotted my badge and got out his tattoo. What have you got against tattoos? Is per se or just M?
Amanda xxxxxx
Dear Amanda Where is it? I can't find it. The Tattoos, I would never encourage someone to have one really. Especially as it seems to be quite young people that ask. CB
Hey guys.Have listened to your music since I was a kid and now my kids love you too. What can I say..you're the best. Have a great tour, sorry I can't manage to see you.
Hi Chris, Was watching your film take it or leave it on BBC4 the other week and it brought back great memories. I went to see the film when it was released, back I think in 1981 Superb !!!!! in the film you play night boat to Cairo and it sounded brilliant, is that version available on disc ? Cheers, Kev
Dear Kev It may be, if I can find all the tapes. CB
Since those nasty men (or women) at the record company won't release Bed & Breakfast Man if we were all to download it wouldn't it get to number one??
Who is the man dancing in the Bed & Breakfast man dvd with the one with the trilby - is it Carl?
Denise
Dear Denise No one was nasty, just business. In the B and B video Chas is in front of a curtain if that's what you mean. That bit was for One Step Beyond originally. CB
Hi Chris, I've been a Madness fan for many years, I'm 33 and grew up with your music playing in the background by my older brother. I got hooked at an early age and finally came to see you at Wembley Arena in the early 90's. Recently saw you again at the B.I.C and my mates and I are coming to the B.I.C this December for yet another brilliant night no doubt! Sadly one of my mates who was also a massive fan of yours died suddenly a year and a half ago, this will be the first time we're coming to see you without him. I would be so grateful if you could dedicate a track to him at the Bournemouth gig in December, some of his favorate tracks were, Embarassment, Bed and Breakfast man, and The Sun and the Rain. I know this is a long shot at getting a track played for him but it's worth a try. Another track which would be fitting is Baggy Trousers, as this was played at his funeral.
Love the new album by the way and it's well up there with some of the best stuff you've ever done. Few bands have stood the test of time, but Madness certainly have!Over 30 years ago you started to get together to form, in my opinion, one of the greatest bands ever! Thanks for all the years, and please keep it going!
Nev.
Dear Nev That's so sad. What was his name? I will try to do this for you but I always forget.. CB
CB Yup, Liberty is the best disc of 2009, by a mile.
Now, the only thing that grates, and it does, is the arrival of the "deluxe edition" with the DVD (and not the extra tracks, saved for the super deluxe ?) which means I am buying twice. I know, if it is so great I should be happy to buy it twice !
This is sort of compounded with the arrival of the super duper deluxe edition of OSB 30 year edition - having bought everything starting with the plastic and on to "The Lot" got the same sort of issue.
Feel free to make it up to me with a gig in Detroit
Hedley
Dear Hedley When this was proposed I of course moaned that it should just be the DVD on sale, till Woody pointed out to me that you would pay £10 for a standalaone DVD anyway. So look on it as DVD with free copy of Norton Folgate. Norton Gold and Platinum packages are in the pipleine even now. That was joke but I'd like to do a double vinyl/Cd version with all the songs on.I don't do gig questions but Detroit Motor City though? Hmmm.. I' like to do the US next year but nothing is planned. CB CB
So your not gonna get Norman to stand in for mark again ?. was good seeing you 2 up on stage.
also just a personnal interest, what was the super yob like to play (on shut up). Was it made by Gibson ?. Alan
Dear Alan We have got Graham Busshers Bush on bass this time. The Super Yob wasn't even plugged in, so I don't know the current owner [Marco Pirroni Adam and the Ants] told me it's not much good.It was custom made, I don't think Gibson made guitars like that. CB
Firstly thank you very much for passing my details onto the boy Jamie in the office. He played a blinder. The Goodies arrived today, although thankfully Bill Oddie has stormed out already.
Secondly, had you i.e. Madness considered releasing a single in that dead week between Christmas and New Year to a) Get some airplay; and b) See if you can be this year's artist to sneak a hit as that is normally the slowest week of the year?
You could email all your chums on the mailing list and we'd all promise to pre-order it as a bundle. Well me and my mate Chris would.
Go on, you know it makes sense. You're already 6 sales down the line towards a hit...
Forever Young or NW5 (now it has reached a wider audience) would make popular choices, honest.
Thanks once again.
Paul
Dear Paul It had to be you - didn't it? Single due around then. This is question number 3098 by the way... CB
Yo Bro Wassup! What has happened to AxeCam, ChrissyBoy Meets... and all the backstage tomfoolery on MadTube? There's been nothing new on there for ages except corporate promotional stuff, which is good, but not as entertaining as 7 grown men p***ing about. Come on, get it together. Lotsa Luv Sez XXX
Dear Sez I broke it and I got bored with it as well. Have to be in the mood. It will return this December. CB
Hi Chris. Could you tell me anything about the history of this brilliant record. Its my all time favourite madness track...I just love the tune---have got hold of a live version which is even better than the recorded version. I thought it worked well in the Our House musical and was gutted when it was dropped for the equally excellent slower version of NW5. All the very best. Jim
Dear Jim It was a Suggs and Chas composition sung over those classic descending beatlsey chords, a classic filled with a touch of pathos about immigrants arriving in the UK from Jamacia. And they say we are just a jolly SKA band - eh? CB
Any idea what's happening with this book ! It was due for release on 5th October, went into Waterstones ordered and paid for it, got a phone call this morning to go and get my money refunded as the book has not ben released and a release date is not forthcoming.besty
Dear Besty Nothing to do with us. It hasn't been written yet, maybe that's the problem. CB
Hiya Chris just found out you know Nick Welsh but then i guess all you guys would. Anyway, just had the night of my life at a Basingstoke private do. Skaville Uk playing live with the legend Rhoda Dakar. I was inches away from her. They are a top band and sounded great live. I was gonna say if i died tomorrow Id go a happy man but then I got the O2 to look forward to in December. This year has just got better by the week for ska fans. Thanks for the One Step Beyond re-issue Mad Mick
hi chris, hope all is well in this hectic yet fantastic year in the world of madness. there is a discussion over at madness central and i thought i would ask you...was the song "the ghost of reverend greene" ever demo,d.some say it was just a poem but i did read once that the band one step behind were asked to record this along with moondance.can you throw any light on this track. cheers chigs
Dear Chigs It was a song Thommo and I wrote that never got finished. He put the lyrics in the Nutty Boys comic. CB
Hi,Chrissy Boy, I have all the MADNESS flexi discs & THE M.I.S PLAYERS cassette i would love to see these MADNESS gems get an official CD release.Maybe you could put them up for download along with a nice cover in the "M" section. There is alot of new young MADNESS fans who would love to hear these MADNESS gems. Cheers ,Andy
Hi Chrissy,I'd just like to say how much I'm enjoying the Liberty of Norton Folgate Album it's fantastic great stuff keep it up.Oh and i'm also one of your many followers on twitter what a weird THING!! Don't know quite what to do with it! I find it very strange.Mark Leahy
Dear Mark Twitter ha ha, I never post anything. Thanks CB
Chrissy, reason for my email is where do the boys get their Pok pie hats from or what is their proper name(Lee T seems to like em), tried all the usual outlets etc but no luck, Thanks.Frankie
Dear Frankie Try Google, type in Pork Pie hats, you'd be surprised. CB
just to say thanks guys for playing over in dublin just after the christmas as i we be working over the christmas weekend and will be off on that date,it makes the whole thing worth while, mind you my two kids wont be to happy about it(i will be on the phone to them as much as i can)but im sure they will be to busy playing with the stuff they got of santa. cheers cu dec phil p.s the new album is cool
Dear Phil We love Ireland. Glad you can make it. thanks CB
Just listening to One Step Beyond. What an album it is, a thing of beauty, for me where it all started. When you consider your collective youth it is a thing of majesty, do you ever listen and think f*ckin hell we were a bit special weren't we. No wonder you're still out there today rubbing shoulders with the current crop {or is it crap?}. Funny thing but when you look at Spandau Ballet waddling back into the fray, leather kecks and pot bellies, I can't help but smile, sad innit. Madness, our lads, THE lads, for all the boys and girls in the know, if the rest don't get it yet they never will but for us, the family, for all the sunshine smiles and the technicolour memories and for the future, bring it on. Where the bloody hell is Bedders, get a grip chaps, before its too late.
Dear Thanks. Bedders is OK. I spoke to him today.I think the Spands look pretty good actually although Tony needs to cut down a bit. They went to the same school as me, you know. Oh yes indeed. CB
Will you be donning your fishnets and stillettoes Saturday noon to join the Rocky Horror Time Warp world record? Or is that more up Thommo's alley?
Now for a question of relevance: if you were to ever achieve lower than 10/10 in the MadQuiz, would you resign?
Amanda xx
Dear Amanda Do you know Thommo and myself saw the original Production in 1973? Um...plus our girlfriends of course. That's probably [partly] why he's like that. The Madquiz? I only enter it when I know all the answers. The last one was too hard for me. CB
hello chrisy boy , how can i become a member of M.i was a member of madness's fan club in the 80's and have always been mad for you lot . hope to hear from you soon . steve
Dear Steve You buy the box set and ger a load of extra tracks that [believe me] are really good plus vinyl copy of the album booklets and so on also a card which gets you in the M section. CB
PLEASE could you give the band a mention for my mum's birthday. She lived near the band as a child and we got tickets and she really wants a mention she's 40.Please could the give this a mention? Liam
Dear Liam Of course I'll give the band a mention. CB
If you've ever felt a little bit unsettled, then look no further than Mean Poppa Lean who will SUPPORT YOU THROUGH THICK AND THIN! OH SNAP! Cosmo Soave-Smith
Dear Cosmo Right..Quite interesting. I like it. I have no say in the matter, however. CB
Hi CB, Been ages since I was last on here, hope u, the band and familys are all good! Just because I have been away doesnt mean I havent been blastin all of ur albums out very loud in my new flat, which by the way is very Madness based with posters, cd's, dvds, photos, vynals and car reg plate of u guys! I love it!Anyway will be seein u in dec at swindon but can u tell me if That Close will be played as the reaction it got at Madstock for this song was amazin and because it is word for word true about the summer of 2007 for me! Luv u guys always! See u very soon! Jade. xxx
in the song 'driving in my car' what/where is selsey bill? It's just been bugging me for ages. Ps. can't wait to see madness in Southend! thanks, josie
Dear Josie Google Selsey Bill and tell me what you find out. CB
You know Chris, happiness in life is being healthy, having someone who loves you, family, friends, job, etc, etc.....and having tickets to the Madness gig on the 15th of May in Amsterdam. In 2008 when I was suffering from a depression who would have thought that the album LONFG was my turn of the tide, the light at the end of the tunnel. 2009 brought me two concerts of Madness. Who knows what next year will bring (well at least one concert, that's for sure, hahahaha). Like a little kid counting the nights before x-mas, I can't wait..... ;) Take care, Andre
hi chrissy boy, sorry to drag up an old question but can you please tell me who is the bed & breakfast man? cheers Alan. PS its a joy to revisit ONE STEP BEYOND, i look forward to replacing my old gubbed Madness albums with shiny new cd's, cheers and best wishes from and old fan-----literally. ALAN.41
Dear Alan It was John Hasler the original drummer/singer/manager. He would turn up at dinner time, scoff all your food and stay the night. CB
Just thought I would ask you if you have listened to any of the bootleg material that is on the fansites such as mis and madness central and if any of the demos from these sites may end up being used for the 2nd discs of the reissues. Now I know you guys would have to get them spruced up and remastered a bit like the beatles did with lennon's demos in 1994 & 95 but songs like perfect place deserve to be heard. Also one more thing. Do you ever think their will be a Madness Official DVD of TV Appearances throughout the years similar to what the jam have done in the past and bands like deep purple are doing at present.
Thanks Mark
Dear Mark I can't say I do really. We do have some stuff that will be used though. CB
I have listened to your band's music since the early 1980's. I am American and only got to see you perform once, London Prince's Trust 1998. Missed half of it because my boyfriend at the time was so hung over. He'd still be my boyfriend if he was just hung. Anyway, it was memorable. Thank you for so many years of great music! Krista
Dear Krista That made me laugh. We only did a short set then I think. thanks CB
Just wanted to thank Madness for all the great music. I was an 8 year old kid who had just moved to Swindon from the US (father was in USAF and we were stationed at RAF Fairford ). One of my first memories of England is hearing "One Step Beyond". I was awe-struck. What a sound. I remember thinking that I never heard anything like it back in the states. I was instantly a fan. Before you knew it my walls were plastered with Madness posters and I had my old man take me to base so I could get my hair cut like Suggs'. When I moved back to states I bought what Madness tapes I could get a hold of. Even in college I would listen to Madness before my games to get me relaxed and focused. Weird I know. Some guys listen to AC/DC, some to Public Enemy. For me Madness did the trick. Anyway I am in my late 30's now and my Madness box set never leaves my CD player. Every song brings back unbelievably great memories of my years spent in Swindon and the great friends I had there (not to mention all trouble we used to get into). So thanks for everything!!! From a still loyal fan in Virginia, USA. PS. Already told the wife my 40th B-day present needs to be a trip to England to see Madness. Here’s to hopefully seeing you guys in concert soon enough! James
Dear James Do you know what? We are playing in Swindon on the 7th December. If you can make it there I will put you on the guest list. CB
Just picked up the special edition of One step Beyond , and i must say you guys have done a cracking job with its presentation(superb digi pak, extra tracks and 24 page booklet,i do hope the rest of the re-releases will be of this superb quality .
with the success of tlonf album, are planning on following up with another studio in the future,ps i think it should win a brit, and i also think you should win a lifetime achievment award for contribution to music peter rae
hi chris hope you and the lads are keeping well will there be any more singles released for the upcoming tour and christmas market i heard a rumour the band wanted to make a xmas song to try and knock the crap x factor garbage from getting the top spot. many regards mark.
Dear Mark It's Forever Young in a real physical format - no 'downloads only'...This is it, a hit I think. CB
Hi can you pass a thankyou to ur management team who made my day today as i got the signed photo of u guys.It was delivered to my work and i work in a young peoples secure unit and i was feeling deflated after reading a new admissions paperwork..it was full of negativity and was totally awful.I love my job and 85%percent its the parents to blame all the time..so thankyou for cheering me up xxx
Dear Helen You are doing a really worthwhile job, glad we helped. CB
Hi Chris, I've been reading this cupboard and was surprised to learn the MNM album is impossible to be re-released due to distribution rights. In addition of my Madness vinyl collection several years ago I bought "The Lot" box set which has MNM on it (with no clear mention of Virgin), so what's the story? Is it a severe "collector's item" now? Kind Regards, Mark van Hugten
Dear Mark The Lot WAS on Virgin/EMI. I just got them to make their logo a bit discreet. CB
dear chris I know the specials are pretty SPECIAL but they are not as entertaining and not as good looking as MADNESS.So why havnt you got any well deserved awards? I think we will ask the Queen to give u all O B E's and have her dancing to one step beyond! love to you all see you in manchester and london O2 XXXXXX di
Dear Di I've got a Blue Peter badge. What more could you ask for? CB
I still keep on listening to your album and I think it's one of your best yet!! Bust I was wondering, will you and the boys ever get Twitter? I know that if you did I'd probably be the first person to follow you :D
Lots of love and good luck on you upcoming gigs Xxx Georgia MacLeod
Dear Georgia I am on Twitter as CBoyForeman but I don't put anything on there. Best approach really. I've got 65 followers. Amazing eh? CB
I got so excited to be 'talkin' to you i forgot half of my question!. so who is the guy in the bed on the start of the one step beyond vid as well as the nutty telephone box dancer. Cheers CB OZ Shoggy
Dear OZ He was called Farhan. Same story as Prince Nutty, except he never jumped up on stage with us. CB
Is the fella dancing oustside the telephone box and with the hat/glasses on a mate of the band?, Who is he? and do you still see him? Cheers CB OZ Shoggy
Dear OZ He was called John AKA Prince Nutty. He got up on stage once at the Nashville and he was too big to kick off. He hung around with us for a while. I don't know where he is these days. CB
Chris, what a year for Madness releases its been and with the rest of the re-releases to follow 2010 isnt shaping up badly either. but one question, and i'm sorry if someone else has already brought this up, why no "Mad not Mad" in the pipeline? yours, puzzled of manchester Jim Campbell
Dear Jim Because it still belongs to EMI. They will hopefully re release it though. CB
Chrissy Boy, i just received my One Step Beyond cd & my 13 yr old just cant get enough, doing the nutty train all over the house ! I forgot how damn good it is ! we both coming to the B.I.C. gig,his first , my 6th. Who are the support Chris ? cheers STEVE PARK
Hi Chris, I was reminiscing about the last concert in Belfast in anticipation of the next one, and was reminded of the surprise, but exteremely enjoyable version of "Pigbag" you finished the night with. Found it on YouTube and laughed at the bit where Carl fell over (I know the feeling well). I'm not asking if you are going to play it on the set again, but wondered if it is available on any recordings - can't find it on any current ones - but maybe on the future? Chhers John P
Mr. Foreman, For the little it is worth, Madness need no awards; the band is an award (& reward) in itself to music. Although I await the DVD & box versions of 'Liberty' here in Oz with tall anticipation, I send massive congrats for all the music that the band has made. Madness & Motown are the reasons why I became a bass player many moons ago; I have much to thank you all for. I have put the lot of you in my will. I have nothing, but you're welcome to half. Regardless of 2010 & beyond, many thanks for being Madness. Hope that this finds the 7 of you in good health & lunacy as you prepare for the December tour.
Incidentally, 'tis raining here in Brisbane at the mo'. Could you please take some of this weather back? Ta. This telegram was written to the melody of the theme to 'Steptoe & Son'. Cheers - Alphonso Lamp.
Might you know how I can contact Guy Richrds, who played the violin for "It Must Be Love" on the "Divine Madness" album?
Guy has several thousand Euros in "neighboring rights" royalties accrued to his credit, earned through the use of recordings of that track on cable, satellite radio, airplay, the use in pubs, clubs, stores, etc.
If you are, indeed, able to advise me how to reach Guy, please let me know and I'll be glad to supply further details.
Thanks for your time, Chris.
Bernie Lozea
Dear Bernie I can't say I ever met him. Try the musicians union in the UK. yours CB
A few years ago (on the old web site) you gave a small tour through Camden showing where Shut Up was filmed and also where to buy a decent Harrington Jacket (I think it was an army surplus type shop). I bought one then but now my daughter wants one - can you please tell me where it is again as we are visiting before Christmas to get her some Dr Martins as well. Thanks very much Nicky x
Dear Nicky The Harrington shop is Ben Nevis Clothing http://www.bennevisclothing.com/SiteMap in Royal College Street. For DR Martens go to the British Boot Company http://www.britboot.co.uk/engine/shop/index.html in Kentish Town Road. Ask for Nick and say I sent you. CB
Downloaded from the the "M" section Dad's Desk Archive -Part2 Bombay Rock it brill any chance of a track listing one or 2 tracks I've not heard for a very very long time. Keep them coming TC
Dear TC It was there but it's gone. I will try to get it archived. CB
My son and i are in a debate about the heights of Madness members-mikes obviously the tallest and Lee the shortest but what are your actual heights? Bernard Paul
Dear Bernard I don't know exactly. Mike, Suggs and Chas are 6' Bedders 5.10' then me Thommo and Woody are all around 5.6' CB
Hello Chris, not a question ,more of an idea, how about doing an eight night tour, and each night play a different album in its entirety, record each night & then release as live albums. I for one would be willing to buy tickets for every night, and would definiteley buy live album releases.I think 70's band Sparks did exactly this earlier this year. from Andy
Dear Andy The first album is only 37 minutes long...Could be fun though. CB
Hi Chrissy Boy, having been a fan since the grand old age of 9 when The Prince came out and loving all you've done ever since, I have to say one of my fave gigs was your storming Glasto set this year, my highlight of the weekend. Any chance you might play there again next year?? Mark
Apparent upheaval, Seven mixes and One Step Beyond.
Hi Chris
In order:
1) In a question wayyyyy back someone spotted that some of the tracks on their original copy of Seven were different to those that appeared on the Virgin re-issue. You mentioned that the wrong mixes appeared first time and were put on the repressing. I'm hoping we'll get both mixes (even if some have to be sourced from vinyl) - any chance there?
2) The apparent upheaval was kind of a nod towards my trivial questions in the face of changing band membership/activity.
3) One Step Beyond! I've only played the mp3 samples on Amazon so far, and from what I can tell it's a really nice sounding package. Someone involved must have the high frequency range of their hearing intact! In fact the top end sounded a little calmed down from the original vinyl - which is a good thing in my opinion. Really pleased it's looking like it will sound so good. Thank you to all involved.
oh why not one more:
4) Did Lee really jump Gary Dovey as shown in Take It Or Leave It? If so, how did you get him to come back to reconstruct the incident for the film? Barso's a bit of an h'actor - Carl too. The rest... erm....
Dear Mike 1]Seven. Hmm. look at it this way. On our recent Liberty album, Mike changed the lyrics to Sugar and Spice. So the original version of the album has the original version of the lyrics. In 10 years time does that mean someone will say they want to hear the original mix? I have been sent the 7 album and on Mrs Hutchinson there are two mixes that are quite different. I prefer the one that has been used most recently. I have asked Barso's opinion so it's up to him. He wrote the song and there was probably some reason that we changed the mix. 2]OK. 3]Union Square have got a good engineer doing all this. 4]Gary Dovey was all right about it you know, it wasn't that bad. Mike had a good role shall we say. Thommo was very good too. yours CB
Hi Bud its me again just wanted to ask if the newcastle matinee show will be the same as the night show cos I couldnt get tickets for the adults show but am going with the kids to the matinee, I also got tickets for the hogmanay show ( couldnt believe I got enclosure tickets normally reserved for the vip guests ) so can me and the boys dance (one is eight the other is thirteen )on stage at the end Pleeaassee cos it wouldnt be a madness concert without some kids dancing to night boat (yep Im a big kid too ) thanks for the info on showtime it makes perfect sense to me now cheers Terry B fae Kirkcaldy
Dear Terry Who knows? Should be the same set. As for the stage it's family only.. CB
Hi Chrissy, I've been listening to the above download from Dad's desk in the M section and wondered if you had any info on it ? (like where and when). There wasn't a "tape insert" as there was on the first Dad's desk download and I did try to google it, to save me bothering you, but I can't find anything about it. Thanks CB, Sharon x
Dear Sharon There was some artwork there but it has been removed. I have asked the team to archive it. CB
I read you're not bothered about the lifetime achievement award. Are you in the running for 'Best Album' or 'Best Live Act'? How do the rest of the band feel about the issue of awards? Also why was the song 'Wonderful' left off the album of the same name? Regards, Coventry's Cheekiest Charmer.
Dear CCC I actually don't know. Both questions. Second one I can't remember why but it ended up that it was a choice "Wonderful" or "Round and Around" that were going to go on. I would have rather had them both on it, which is what I said at the time. CB
Hello Again Sir, Don't Whatch The News Much Coz Its Pure Crap And Find It Boring,Just Been Update Due To The Cupboard That The Tw*t Williams Has Srolen Your Life Time Achivement Award How Did The Spanner Get The Award And You Did'nt ,Ey ??, Is That What This World Is Coming to, flipping Tools ment To Be Singers Getting Awards The Best band Should Be Getting .......Sorry Just Had To Express The Anger Shannan Xxxxxxxxxxx
Shannan Oh, he probably won't even turn up. calm down it's only a music business junketCB
Hi Chrissy Boy ,me and my pal have seen Madness at least 40 times,I know everyone wants to hear the hits, but it would be buzzing if you done a gig with just album tracks,I know this aint gonna ever happen cos it'd take forever to rehearse etc.The best concert i've ever seen was the folgate gigs at hackney empire, heard some of the songs before, but it still blew me and my pals away. Cheers Chrissy Boy Doddy
Dear Doddy Well we still do a lot from One Step Beyond.. thanks for coming all those times CB
Hi CB, I'm soooo looking forward to Manchester Apollo on 15th Dec. I hope you will be playing lots of TLONF tracks, but.... please please do In the middle of the night as I love it. Pretty please. See you soon XXX Bramblecat XXX
hi im 39 years old. i have been a madness fan since i was nine years old, i saw you in norwich june 13th (brilliant) =) hope you come back there next year. do you think you will have a nother album out next year? p.s got the 30th birthday jacket x teresa
Dear Teresa Another album! This one took ten years... CB
Hiya CB Hope you are well.Always check out old Madness appearances on youtube. Can you remember the Parkinson one where you have hi thommo on your guitar who is the sax player? Its not Davey Payne is it?Also on Strictly Come Dancing was it Clive Langer on the bass? Also remember another Blockhead Norman standing in for Bedders in the mid 90s Did Mr Watt Roy get asked to stand in again?Cheers Chirs Martin
Dear Martin It was Terry Edwards. I just had this idea of him being Toulouse Lautrec in homage to Thommo's height. I knew Thommo would be watching it he was in Australia. The BBC make up and wardrobe department did a brilliant job. Anywhere else ITV, CH 4 etc..and I wouldn't have asked. Any other sax player too. Terry is a great bloke. Mind you is was quite hard to get him to do it, to say the least. The current bass stand in is Graham Bush. CB
Is there a reason why only you and Thommo have any real input in this website? Dont get me wrong you are dong a sterling job, but it would be nice for the rest of the band to come on so we can harrass them too.

Dear Neil Nice to hear from you again. I get some ridicule for even doing this from some of the band as it is. They have got better things to do it's fair enough if they don;t want to do this. It's something I have always done, 50 questions takes me half an hour and every now and then there are some brilliant ones that make it all worthwhile. al the best CB
