Thommo's Treehouse: The Polka Dots

Name: sila*
Subject: The Polka Dots
Question: Little Help

I am in search of more material by The Polka Dots. My sister picked up a 45 in the import section of Tower records circa 1983.

Asking a Brit because on one side is (I Want To Make Love To A Women Who) Don't Love Me At All and that appears to be recorded in a place called The Hop Club, or it could have been the intention of the band to simulate a club. Bookends marvelously with Return of the Los Palmas 7...

People are ordering pints and someone asks for a couple fags and a light;
well that aint happen in America!

Oh Rosemary is on the flip side, more rockabilly.

I would love to find an EP or LP by these folks or just know someone saw them and got to enjoy them, hopefully as much as I have over last forever listening to what I have of them.

cheers,
lisa*

P.S. If interested I could drop an .aiff file at dropbox.com to see if hearing the tune rings a bell.

Question: Lee, as mentioned last year at Madstock, you enspired me to play sax. Now for my question: Are there any saxaphone books out there of your part in the songs. I was wondering how everyone got thir nicknames, like 'Suggs', 'Kix' and 'Chas Smash' and how they kept their names with the band and how public new about them?

Thank you!

Zoe,I am not a number........
I first remember seeing an add in the Sunday Times colour supplement around 73',that had an piece on Graffiti carried out in the dead of night,on the New York Subways & trains, So to pass a little time a few of my mates, would acquire some aerosol cans & go to work. My 'Tag' was 'KIX681'
I decided I would keep this Tag now & forever more,We have called each other by these names through out our career, & the Madness fans know us by these names & shout it out at us,amongst other things,& like S*it to a shovel....It's stuck.

Question: Hey Thommo seen the film yet mate very very impressed by andy serkis whats your take on the pic mate
--
If you don't know much about Ian then it could be interesting, there was nothing new for myself,I would like to have seen more of his minder 'Spider' from day dot to 1980,Spider knew how to handle him & half understand him.The reason Ian got a clump from Omar at a casino(I was told) was,he asked Omar 'How much for your Woman'? But,she happened to Mr.Shariff his daughter!!!
Andy takes on Ian as if it was almost him,Fantastic performance, but could have a bit more told.
But how do you put,20-30 years in 100 mins?
I felt for Baxter throughout, & he's is doing.....very well.

We downed a few drinks, had a chat and took some pix with Suggs and Chris.

We also presented 'honourary membership' of the Club, which seemed to go down very well.

The concert was quality, got some half decent pics of you on stage.

Wishing you all the very best in 2010.
Colin.
