I have felt compelled to write to you on here because, well, Im in shock right now to be honest. See I grew up listening to Madness. Your band was almost like a best friend to me… all the albums were played over and over and over in my bedroom hahahaa.. Was really upset when you split in 86. I always thought the “Wonderful” comeback album was ummmmm okay… it was almost like it was what Madness was “supposed” to sound like…. then The Dangermen I can only describe as underwhelming…. Im not going to lie but I wanted that sparkle to be there like when I used to listen to the likes of “Seven or Rise and Fall” etc…. So when Norton Folgate came out I actually steered clear… sorry … but last week I thought “what the hell” and bought it and (again to be brutally honest) I wasn’t really expecting much….I mean, I have yet to experienced a decent album by ANY band I loved when they were in their prime.. EVER
What I heard was simply a shock to my system! This is simply the BEST album I have heard in MANY years! It is just simply superb from start to finish! The songs, the melodies are all fantastic. I cannot thank you enough for making this album. Forever Young, Idiot Child, That Close, On the Town, The Roadette Song and Norton Folgate are BETTER than anything you ever did on previous albums in my opinion… you all must be so PROUD of what you have achieved… I feel PROUD for you all… I feel like an old best friend just showed up in my life again…. Thank you….
