How do I know the correct mixes are on Spotify if I have not bought the remasters? That sir, is a good question. I do that Spotify don’t always put the remastered tracks of an existing Spotify album if they already have the tracks online. However, all that was there of Madness before the remasters was Utter Madness, possibly Complete Madness, the 5 or 6 track sampler (now gone) and a bunch of more recent singles and some compilation entries – pretty much One Step Beyond and The Prince. So I’m fairly confident that what they have is what’s actually out. Amazon and Spotify (and itunes I think) all have the same time listed for Sweetest Girl extended being around the 5:40 mark (as per the album version which is one Spotify twice on MNM) whereas the actual extended version for better or worse actua! lly clocks in @ over 6 mins.

Now please brace yourself, as this is a list of some of the missing stuff – I hope the doesn’t criticism ruin your day. I’m don’t know much about the flexis, but I know some are missing.

To break it down as far as I’m aware:

OSB:
Don’t Quote Me on That (Promo Mix – also on JP 12″ and German b-side(?))

Night Boat To Cairo remix as used on Geffen compilation

OSB 12″ reprise
There may also be a different 12″ version of OSB for the US. Not sure.

OSB Spanish version

If The Prince is the same track as on total madness (from vinyl it sounds like) it’s not the full single version.

Two tone version of Bed & Breakfast Man

Absolutely: Looks like it’s in good order, unless there’s some missing flexis (fair play for both sleeves!)

Shut Up 12″ (I believe it has about 30 secs longer on the fade??)

It Must Be Love remix on Geffen comp

Rise & Fall:
Our House (stretch mix) – also has the greatest hits type intro of the 12″ and altered lyrics at the end. On the CD it is just the 12″ version with the GH intro cut off as per The Business plus early fade.

Keep Moving:
The other remix of Victoria Gardens that appeared on The Business.

I notice the single versions are largely on Total Madness so that covers a few things that I previously thought were missing.

There’s bound to be other stuff I haven’t noticed that more aware people would know.

There is some interesting stuff there for sure, but it’s a shame it’s not complete where space would have allowed for more and where it’s about the third time some of these have been out on CD and after the errors on The Business and the singles collection(s.)

Nice to see OSB on Spotify now, but it’s only the main album – are you TRYING to upset me? 😉
