Mad not Mad album

Hi Chrissy,
I love the album Mad not Mad especially the songs “I´ll compete” and “Coldest Day” and “Time”. Can you tell me a bit about the recording sessions Westside Studios and Afrodiziak did backing vocals can you tell me about the work and the atmospere in the studio? I wish you the best especially for X-mas and the new year. Lots of kisses Jules

Dear Jules
Well it was a bit grim at times. No Barso, we were using drum machines on some songs but overall it was quite a good time. A lot of the songs didn’t come out the way I had imagined them. “Burning the Boats” for example. I’d like to re record that song one day..
thanks CB

yes David love the one too..i think the album is quite poppy and disco quite unusual for Madness and I wonder if some of the songs of the album are played in British discos still nowadays…….?
By the way i would be curious to see Chrissy over-working the album and the song….Jules

thanks CB and Saucy…the album is perfectly done and arranged Burning the Boats is lovely and the lyrics are quite political in a way too..like many Madness songs it is really critical towards politicians work for example like Mr. Speaker and others containing this issue..thanks CB for answering you still look absolutely neat and thanks to your Barry tribut..another wonderful composer that left this world..lots of greetings Jules
