Hi Chris, I discovered the other day that a work colleague was at the same Madness gig as me many years ago.In 1995. It was the first time I had seen you live, and it was at the Dundonald Ice Bowl, just outside Belfast.
The gig was superb, but the bit we were laughing about was the terrible choice of support act. A rap band from Dublin. Do you remember what they were called? I remember that they walked off stage after about half a song. Did somebody throw a packet of ginger biscuits at the singer? I remember Suggs picking a packet off the stage and offering them to the audience.
Was there a bit of a frosty atmos with them afterwards or did he put his teddy back in the pram, and did they support you in Dublin the next night?
Maybe you’ve successfully forgotten that one, but it was the first of many Madness gigs, and hopefully many more to come!
