Dear Chris,
It has been quite some time now since I sent you a question. Usually someone else has allready asked my question. I am not sure if this one has been put forward though. It’s about the new book about Madness (THE HOUSE OF FUN: THE STORY OF MADNESS BOOK). Do you guys condone the book or is it not worth reading. As much as I want to read about Madness, I would like it to be as true as possible (within reason of course, no sordy details please, etc).
Kind regards and good luck with the x-mas tour. Got no money left to come to England and enjoy a gig or two. Shame….
Andre
Dear Andre
This book was made without the band’s input but the author has managed to track down a lot of people from our past the amount of people he has amassed seemed quite well researched. However, I did see a quoted extract which says a cheque for £300,000 went missing before the Madstock 92 gig, which is wildly inaccurate.
THE BOOK ALSO SAYS YOU PLAYED HAMMERSMITH ODEON AND ASKED FOR TEDDYS TO BE DONATED ON 24 AND 25TH DEC 1985!xmas gigs then would of been nice i KNOW YOU DIDNT COS YOU PLAYED THERE ON NEW YEARS EVE THAT YEAR AND TOLD SUGGS TO SAY THANKS BILL FOR THE TOYS! MY DAD!you did do 2 dates there the month before on the mad not mad tour!
Thanks Chris, I’ll rip that page out of the book.
Again good luck with the x-mas tour.
Andre
Depending on what is inaccurate about it, that may be due to the article that’s misquoted the book, perhaps. Most of the story come from Steve Finan, and recently Vince Power and Suggs were telling a pretty similar version on a radio show last month that Suggs stood in on. Perhaps both were exagerating for drama? Whats your take on it Chris, from that day?
