Hey there,
some of my friends and I are trying to help out the charity READ. READ is a charity that was set up by some university students who took a gap year in between studying. They went to Africa and discovered that there syllabus is almost the same as ours in the UK, but they haven’t got any books to help the children learn. When the students returned home they set up read, a charity organisation which sends books to east African countries such as Tanzania.
In order for us to help them we need to collect 5000 books, which can be achieved throughout our local community, we also need to raise £2000 to send the books to Tanzania which is where you come in. We are not asking for money, but instead we are looking for donations of merchandise which we can give away in raffles as prizes. This will increase the amount of people that enter the raffle and in turn help to raise more money for the charity. As I have been a Madness fan for nearly all my life, it will be great honor to have your help in raising money for the children in Tanzania.
However if we raise over £2000 the money will be used for the Habitat for Humanity fund which our school has taken part in for the last 2 years, but has sadly run out of funding to carry it on for a third year.
Thank for reading this email, and I hope you get back to me soon.
Many thanks
Kirsty Wheeler, on behalf of the READ students at Mellow Lane School, Hayes – London England UB4 8JB.
