I heard this toon in the background of a John Hughes movie, it sounds almost identical to ‘Our House,’ same bass line, drum rhythm, string section, there’s even a tenor sax. I have no idea what the song is called or who does it, or if the studio created it themselves, but you should see the similarities – I thought it was a different, dancy version of ‘Our House’ at first!
I filmed a bit of the scene to show what I mean…the movie came out almost two years after ‘Our House’ was recorded. Everything sounds almost exact!
Oh, and a Specials song also features in that movie, minutes after that song is heard. Really want to know what that song is. You guys had nothing to do with it, no?

Thanks so much! I will look him up. Couldn’t use ‘Our House?’ Like they wanted to? Wow. John Hughes was great at choosing bands associated with or close to Madness in his films, though the one time it is suggested he tries, he can’t! And with his first teenage-themed film. Geez.
Never heard of a name like ‘Filene’ before though.
Thats Ira Newborn who was commissioned to write a song that sounded like “our House” which they could not use for legal reasons (or because they were too cheap??). He’s saying ‘Filene’ which was his girlfriend’s name.
