I was listening to the new “7” re master & wanted to know a couple things. I hear there were some different mixes used on the album in later reissues esp for “Mrs Hutchinson” & “Day On The Town” How diffent were these original mixes from the ones used now? Also, why was “Day On The Town’considered offensive in some countries?

I also notice your two B sides,”Memories” & “Shadow On The House” deal with the end of a relationship. Were you going through that at the time or was it just in character?

I really can’t remember the mixes. I think there was some brass Mike liked. Day on the Town had a great trumpet line on the end maybe we used that in one version. “Day on the Town” offensive? I don’t know about that – sounds like a rumour. My lyrics are usually based on my experiences, so I suppose so but they were a bit um cliched.
