Hi Chris,
Somewhere in the mists of time I went along to my school disco and there outside were a crew of suited, booted, crombie clobbered rudeboys. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Inside they danced to a music, I was helpfully informed, called ska. I was hooked. That night probably changed my life. I got into Madness and loved not just the music but also the wit and the wisdom. And from Madness, I then got into the whole two tone movement. Once I had collected all those records I got into Jamaican ska, rocksteady, reggae. I also listened to Ian Dury, Kinks, Northern Soul etc etc. The musical web is complex but there are Madness, bang in the middle of it.
I also got into writing and playing music. I bought a sax and played in a couple of bands but my real passion was writing. So…to get to the point. I have put together a band to play songs that I have written and we have a couple of gigs coming up. The band is The Cut Throat Razors and we are playing the Bongo Club in Edinburgh on the 23rd April. There are a few demos at: www.myspace.com/thecutthroatrazors
Many thanks for the inspiration and for being a large part of my life for so long. If you get a chance to listen to them I hope you enjoy.
Cheers and I wish you all the very best.
Scott
Thanks Scott I like what you’re doing – keep it up.
