Hi CB
congrats on a nice set at the reading festival last week, once again the other bands were blown away..
The only negative point in my view would be that the overall sound is not quite the standards of a few years ago. For defo this has nothin to do with the playing, but more to do with what sounds you guys are using on stage, such as Barso’s piano, which sounds a few keys too low and has that muffled effect which makes it unaudible at times. He needs to go back to the sound from the early madstocks (92-94 piano twangy effect), this worked really well and gave the songs a modern touch. The other thing is Tommo’s sax never seems to be loud enough, despite the poor old boy playing his lungs out, and I would ditch the extra brass section, nothin personal with the wonderful players, but the songs dont sound right. Maybe you can get it sorted. As for the guitars and vocals, still perfect..
take care tote
Dear Tote
Festivals are never that good, as we don’t get a sound check it’s always windy and so on. Thommo mimes lot of the time. He is legend though, he’s been playing a blinder lately. The brass players are like there for Thommo, you know..

Ditch the Brass Monkeys???? Each to their own and all that, but I think they are brilliant and a right asset to the live sound – plus very entertaining with all their ‘moves’!
